Visual Art Reading
Visual art reading is a modality that helps reach the depths of the subconscious mind of an individual.
While a person traverses through a low period, it is a necessity for the therapist to recognize, address, and prioritize the prevailing emotions running through the client's mind.
Most of the time, clients are unaware of their own emotional state and refrain from being expressive. Here, visual art reading gives an insight into the emotional state of the individual and helps decide the course of the session. It has been found that there was a huge difference in the artwork of a person before and after the session. The choice of landscape, colors, and strokes of each and every client drastically changed with the progress of the therapy sessions.
As the course of the sessions progress, mental metaphors created by the individual in the forms of scenes or idioms in a verbal way help to find out the real issues that should be addressed.
Here it is important to know the following points:
Visual art reading reveals the truth of the moment. Our mindset changes constantly and so does our emotional state. A mere sketch reveals the momentary emotional turmoil an individual is going through. Occasionally, a person's artwork could also reveal their aspirations, fears, and desires.
People with different mindsets can draw the same things, such as mountains, rivers, and houses. These are very commonly used while drawing landscapes. However, this does not mean that they all are going through the same emotional state. The choice of colors, strokes, and scene-setting make the difference in identifying what exactly is going on in a person's mind.
